IPL Los Angeles – Photofacial Treatments
Exposure to ultraviolet light ages the skin and can cause sun spots, broken veins, and other blemishes to appear. Our Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial rejuvenation treatment is a procedure that targets these abnormal pigments, making the skin more even toned, giving you a younger appearance.
IPL Photofacial can be used for sun spots (age spots), and skin conditions like rosacea, spider veins, premature wrinkles, pigment problems, telangiectasias, hemangiomas, dyschromia, melasma, poikiloderma, angiomas, bags under the eyes and large pores on the face and other body areas. IPL Photofacial is also a preventative and maintenance treatment for the signs of aging.
The IPL Photofacial procedure works by targeting the blemish with very intense pulsed light from a laser. The light is absorbed in higher amounts by darker pigments. Age spots form a crust and naturally fall away in a couple of weeks. Small capillaries in spider veins are heated to the point of coagulation and are then absorbed by the natural cleansing system of the body. Normal skin is unaffected. IPL Photofacial penetrates deep below the skin’s surface to help start the production of new collagen and other connective tissues, resulting in clearer, younger looking skin.
How Does the IPL Process Work?
How Long Does an IPL Procedure Take?
Treatments are spaced 3 weeks apart. You will see a noticeable improvement with each IPL laser treatment.
How Many IPL Treatments Are Required?
While the required number of IPL treatments depends on your age and the severity of your concerns, usually 3-6 treatments are sufficient. If age or brown spots are your primary concern, you may only need one or two IPL Photofacial treatments.
IPL Laser Skin Treatment in Los Angeles for Hyperpigmentation and Acne
Outbreaks of acne are stressful, in themselves. But even after the eruptions heal, dark red or brown spots can remain, for long periods of time. This discoloration is not scar tissue and may fade over lots of time. But IPL laser treatments will save months of waiting. The only pre-treatment recommendation is to avoid direct sun exposure for several weeks prior to your appointment for better results.
The IPL Photofacial laser works best on paler skin.
The number of IPL Photofacial treatments varies, patient to patient, but three to four visits should provide excellent results.
Chemical Peel vs. Laser Skin Re-surfacing
In treating pre-mature aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, age or sun spots, mild scarring, and certain forms of acne, there are two popular processes: Chemical Peel and Laser Re-surfacing. The Chemical Peel removes surface layers of the skin to reveal the “newer,” smoother, more youthful layer below. After peeling, some redness, then scaling will occur for about three to seven days. Laser Re-surfacing therapy procedures are somewhat more invasive, with slightly more discomfort in some body areas, and the resulting redness could last a little longer.
