For many of us daily demands of work, school and family, leave little to no time to adequately take care of ourselves. Sleep becomes a luxury, and more often than not we find ourselves falling short of getting recommended 8 hours of sleep per day. When we forego getting a good night’s rest our bodies suffer greatly, and over it can greatly affect the appearance of our skin. Luckily, there are several cosmetic treatments that help refresh and rejuvenate the skin so that we can look less tired and feel more beautiful.

  1. Chemical Peels

Studies have shown that poor sleeper’s skin looks more aged than their well-rested counterparts. Researchers also found that sleep-deprived women have an impaired ability to protect against environmental aggressors, such as the sun, compared to those who regularly receive better quality sleep. We recommend prioritizing sleep as a natural and cost-effective way to maintain your appearance. Fine lines and uneven pigmentation can also be successfully treated with medical grade chemical peels. The peels available through SkinMedica can brighten your skin and improve its tone and texture.

  1. Eye cream

Skin around your eyes is extremely susceptible to the signs of aging and fatigue. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, this delicate skin region becomes a prominent display for dark under eye circles and a tired and worn out expression. Applying a high-quality eye cream such as TNS Illuminating Eye Cream can help counter the effects of sleep deprivation. This innovative cream can reduce the appearance of fine lines and make your eyes appear brighter and more beautiful.

As we age, wrinkles gradually develop all over our bodies, including our necks. The weakening of neck muscles plays a big role in this process since these are the muscles that help keep the skin on our neck tight and smooth. It’s not uncommon to develop so-called bands in the neck which can run either horizontally or vertically. There are certain surgical procedures that can address these bands.

There are also newer methods that are less invasive, and which carry less risk. A recent study focused on the use of dermal fillers, to effectively reduce the appearance of these bands.

Fillers have been used to soften facial lines for many years, so researchers wanted to see if they would be a similarly effective treatment for horizontal neck lines. 14 eligible subjects were chosen for the trial. Some of them received hyaluronic acid filler injections into their neck lines. As with most injections, there was some bruising and swelling, though these side effects resolved relatively quickly. Compared to subjects who did not receive the treatment, those who were treated with hyaluronic acid filler had visibly reduced neck lines.

We are hopeful that this treatment will be as effective for the neck lines as they are for the facial ones. Trials are underway to determine the most effective way of performing these treatments, such as the type of needle to be used, injection sites, and frequency of injections.

Fine lines and wrinkles give a tired appearance to the skin. The decision to start Botox treatments can be a difficult one for many people. Many are worried if Botox is too strong, and if the treatment will make their face look like it’s frozen. Botox is a very powerful medication, but with the experienced doctor injecting it you should not have problems expressing your emotions after the treatment.

Baby Botox is the moniker used to describe treatments that use fewer units of Botox than what is considered a norm. The practice of injecting only small doses of Botox is a conservative approach that can yield amazing results. During a treatment, the practitioner injects small amounts of Botox into forehead hyper-dynamic lines, which results in a softened appearance without jeopardizing patient’s ability to show their emotions. Baby Botox will require more frequent treatments, but you should expect each session to be priced substantially lower because Botox is priced per unit.

Fall is a season of new beginnings. The kids head off to school and we return to the office with a few more dark spots and fine lines than before our summer vacation.

Fortunately, the cooler months offer an excellent opportunity to repair and rejuvenate the skin. At Your Laser Skin Care we offer high quality and effective skincare products and treatments that will help restore your skin. One of our favorite lines, Skinmedica, offers a wide range of products that can help you transition to the needs of the season.

Below are a few helpful tips on how to adjust your skin care regimen to better accommodate the change in climate that comes with fall.

  1. Use sunscreen regularly

Although, you may feel less heat from the sun in the fall and winter, UV rays are something to be avoided throughout the year. Applying a sunscreen such as Skinmedica’s Essential Defense and Repair SPF 34 can protect you from the damaging rays of the sun and the unique formula also provides a host of other anti-aging benefits.

  1. Use a serum at night

Nighttime provides an opportunity for your body to repair itself. Serums are highly effective when applied at night, and the TNS Essential Serum is a fantastic option to dramatically improve the condition of your skin.  This innovative serum delivers a combination of antioxidants, peptides, and human growth factors to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  1. Refresh your skin with chemical peels

Skinmedica’s comprehensive range of medical grade chemical peels can treat a variety of skin conditions. The Illuminize peel is the least aggressive formulation and can reveal a brighter, more radiant complexion with little to no downtime. The Rejuvenize and Vitalize peels are tougher on dark spots, and can provide the deep exfoliation your skin needs in the fall months.

Everyone sweats. For the 7 million Americans suffering from hyperhidrosis, sweating can be such an unpleasant experience that it actually reduces their quality of life. Hyperhidrosis is a term used to describe a medical disorder in which the body perspires at an abnormally high rate, even if there are no physiological or mental triggers to elicit such response.

Deodorants and antiperspirants are the most common ways to reduce the odor and wetness associated with sweating, but these two over-the-counter products have very limited success when dealing with excessive underarm sweating. The active ingredient in antiperspirants is aluminum, but the concentration of the chemical in most commercial antiperspirants is simply not strong enough to handle hyperhidrosis.

Luckily, there is an affordable medical grade treatment, such as Botox, that can offer relief to patients suffering from excessive sweating. Although Botox is typically lauded for its wrinkle-fighting abilities, it is also a very effective treatment for hyperhidrosis. In fact, in clinical trials, Botox was shown to reduce sweating up to 80 percent for up to six months. Botox is so effective because it works by blocking the chemical signals that activate sweat glands, which prevents sweating in the first place.

The sunny days of summer are quickly coming to an end, but season’s warm rays can have a long-lasting impact on the health and condition of your skin.

Excessive sun exposure dehydrates the skin which makes the affected areas more prone to developing fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, UV radiation can induce hyperpigmentation on the face or body, which is exceedingly difficult to treat using at-home remedies.

Luckily, a medical grade chemical peel can treat the visible signs of premature aging and some forms of discoloration. Traditionally, peels are categorized into three distinct levels: superficial, medium and deep.

Chemical peels we offer can be customized to the individual patient’s unique skincare condition and goals. Treatments typically take less than an hour to administer, and patients generally experience minimal downtime to recover from them. However, there are a number of dos and don’ts all patients need to follow after the treatment to optimize results and minimize risks.

Don’t pick at the skin

Chemical peels slough off dead skin cells, which often leaves patients with flakes of skin appearing on their faces during their recovery time. Patients must refrain from manually removing the flakes before they are ready to fall off on their own.

Do hydrate the skin

Regularly apply a moisturizer to help repair the skin. Keeping skin hydrated will minimize the adverse effects of the peeling solution.

Do practice safe sun habits

Chemical peels leave your skin susceptible to sun damage. Limit your time in the sun to a minimum and wear sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat while you recover.
