Using Botox for Severe Sweating

No one likes to have excessive sweat or shirts with sweat stains – and if you suffer from constant sweating, Botox injections might be the perfect solution for you! While you might be thinking, ‘what does Botox have to do with sweating?’ it is actually a viable option if you have tried other solutions and they do not work. In Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, Botox works wonders on those who suffer from excessive sweating – the warm, mild winters and hot summer days cause many people to sweat. As a result, self-confidence levels decrease as people are embarrassed of sweat stains and the inability to stay dry, despite using other over the counter solutions.

What is excessive sweating? Sure, on a warm day most of us sweat a little, but excessive sweating is something thousands of people suffer from each year. Here are a few questions you should answer to determine if you have excessive sweating, also known as severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis:

  • How often do you change clothing?
  • Do you have to use products throughout the day to manage sweating?
  • Have you tried using prescription deodorants or powders to combat sweating?
  • How many hours each day do you notice severe sweating?
  • How often does the thought of excessive sweating crosses your mind?
  • Do you find that sweating interferes with your daily chores or activities?

If you answered positively to these questions, you are likely an ideal candidate for Botox. The procedure is quick and relatively painless, and Botox is approved by the Food and Drug Administration to use in the treatment of excessive sweating. A doctor administers Botox injections to the underarm area – Botox temporarily suspends the chemical signals that prompt the sweat glands to work. When the chemical signal is interrupted, patients experience a reprieve from sweating.

To find out more information visit a doctor or a skin care center. During a consultation, your doctor will help determine whether Botox injections are right for you – or if another solution will minimize sweating. Botox is used for more than just reducing wrinkles – it’s been shown to benefit those with sweating, muscle pain and even migraine headaches.

Botox is a temporary solution, so you will need to go in a couple of times a year for a repeat injection.
