Whether you’re headed to the beach, pool or a backyard barbecue, follow these simple do’s and don’ts of summer laser hair removal.
Do: Be Smart About the Sun
While it is possible to have laser hair removal during summer months, you’ll want to be smart about being in the sun. Avoid sun exposure for at least one week before and one week after your treatment, to prevent unpleasant side effects like blisters, burns, and hyper-pigmentation. Also, make sure to protect your skin with sunscreen every day- we recommend using at least SPF 30. If you prefer to use faux tanning products, they can be safely applied 4-5 days after your laser hair removal treatment.
Don’t: Swim for 24-48 Hours After Laser Hair Removal
Water activities, like swimming in the ocean or a pool, are a fun part of summer that you wouldn’t want to miss out on. Just make sure you wait 24-48 hours after your laser treatment.
Do: Exfoliate
We recommend exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week between laser treatments. Because laser hair removal can make your skin more sensitive than usual, wait 3-4 days after your treatment to start exfoliating. Exfoliation improves the results you get from laser hair removal and prevents ingrown hairs.
Don’t: Try Shaving or Waxing
It may seem like a good idea to turn to at-home treatments like shaving, waxing, or depilatories for summertime hair removal. But these quick fixes often come at a cost—they can cause unpleasant side effects like irritation, cuts, burns, and ingrown hairs.
